Balm Bench

Ingredient profile

Rosemary Oleoresin Extract / ROE

Overview

ROE is a functional antioxidant for the oil side of the bench. It is for slowing oil rancidity, not scent design, and it should not be confused with rosemary essential oil.

The tradeoff is sensory. ROE can bring color and herbal aroma, so it is not invisible in every formula. Use it when oil stability is worth that footprint.

For the Science Hippies

ROE is an oil-soluble rosemary extract used at low levels to support lipid stability. It is different from rosemary essential oil and should be evaluated for color, scent, and supplier concentration.

In beard products, ROE is useful when a formula contains oxidation-prone oils. It should not be presented as a preservative for water-containing products.
